What is it like to be a Boondockers Welcome Host?

We consider ourselves glampers more than campers. Boondocking in the middle of nowhere for a week is not our idea of fun. We prefer to stay at full hook-up campgrounds. But there are times when we need to get from one place to another and need a quick overnight spot. We would prefer not to camp overnight at Walmart or Cracker Barrel. So when we found out about Boondockers Welcome, we were intrigued to try it out! But what is it like to be a Boondockers Welcome host?

Every RV is made to boondock for at least a night or two at a time. With our recent upgrade to Battle Born batteries, we felt confident to boondock, keeping our fridge charged. From the Oregon coast to the Seattle area, we stayed two nights with our first Boondockers Welcome hosts Kevin and Julie.

Not always roughing it!

Going off-grid seems daunting. When we learned 3 out of 4 Boondockers Welcome hosts actually offer electric hookups, we signed up to join! Kevin and Julie were exceptional hosts. They have several spots for RVers to camp for the night. At least three of their sites included water and electric hookups. It’s easy to see why Kevin and Julie are the #2 hosts in the network!

After staying the night, we wanted to find out more about being a Boondockers Welcome host. Kevin and Julie sat down to discuss their experience of hosting RVers. Check out our YouTube video to see what they think of being Boondockers Welcome hosts.

We enjoyed our first stay at Boondockers Welcome. While we don’t have any property, we wouldn’t hesitate to sign up as hosts too! What a great way to meet and help fellow RVers and build up the community. RVers helping RVers is what makes this community so amazing. We hope you try Boondockers Welcome for many Bright Dais Ahead.
